Denley Hydraulics supplied a bespoke hydraulic cylinder with adjustable stroke and adjustable closed centers. The elongated gland can be wound in or out to set the desired stroke, allowing for the same design to be used for different hydroelectric turbines. The cylinder controls the position of guide vanes. The closed centers can be adjusted by winding the rod clevis in or out. This allows the “squeeze” to be set on the guide vanes. This cylinder has pressure compensated flow controls as well as an orifice in the cylinder to protect the pipeline from any sudden movements in the event of failure.
